The Kiss
"The king lifted a hand to her cheek and kissed her. It was not a kiss between strangers, not even a kiss between a bride and groom. It was a kiss between a man and his wife, and when it was over, the king closed his eyes and rested his forehead in the hollow of the queen's shoulder, like a man seeking respite, like a man reaching home at the end of the day." — Megan Whalen Turner

Unfailing Grace
"There is a loveliness to life that does not fade. Even in the terrors of the night, there is a tendency toward grace that does not fail us. "

"Come, Gentle Night"
Give me my Romeo; and, when I shall die,
Take him and cut him out in little stars,
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night..."
— William Shakespeare

Stay...
He would not stay for me to stand and gaze.
I shook his hand, and tore my heart in sunder,
And went with half my life about my ways.

The Longing
When you long with all your heart for someone to love you, a madness grows there that shakes all sense from the trees and the water and the earth. And nothing lives for you, except the long deep bitter want.

No Entry
I'm such a nerd. I have to confess that these entrances to the subway make me nervous. My heart always starts beating a little faster ... "Can I get through that contraption, or can't I?" Don't ask me how I did it, but I tried once on this particular one and didn't push the bars hard enough and then had to go buy another ticket and try again. Sigh. Just not a city girl, for sure. Gary was waiting patiently on the other side.
