Turkey Farm

This is a local farm, located a few miles from where my grandparents used to live. I have been by this spot so many times in my life and have always admired this beautifully-maintained house and the accompanying barns and silos. During the holidays, turkeys are raised and sold on this farm. When I worked in an insurance office, our boss always gave us a free turkey for Thanksgiving and it always came from here. I was driving around a couple of days ago and went by this spot and decided to photograph it. I was parked on an adjacent road so had to use the full 200mm lens. I edited the photo in Topaz. Paymaster's Building -- Cornwall Village

This small building sits directly across the street from the Cornwall Iron Furance, and several hundred yards in front of the Cornwall Mansion. It was the Paymaster's Building, circa 1860 .... the place where the men who worked in the iron furance went to collect their pay. You can't help but wonder about the things that might have transpired within these walls. Did pay day bring a bit of happiness to the men who worked this hard, hard job ... or was pay day just further misery. You hear so much about unjust and unfair treatment of workers, so you can't help but wonder ..... I hope that the walls saw moments of happiness.
