When Details Matter

(click photo to enlarge to see more detail)

This is a SOOC cropped image of a portion of the feathers on an Emu at our local zoo.    It gives you a glimpse of the amount of detail you can capture with the Nikon D800.    This is a pretty drastic crop.    This week, we have been renting a 50-500mm Sigma lens, and below is a picture of the D800 and the Sigma lens mounted to our tripod ....

The picture of the Emu feathers was taken hand held, as I wanted to see how the lens would be for walk-around purposes.   It's big and heavy, but I made out fairly well.  It's a good thing I've been steadily working at getting more fit physically.  I will say that you tend to get a lot of stares when you walk around with this type of gear hanging from your hip.

I've taken lots of pics but haven't had a chance to do more than give them a quick glance.   Will post more soon, for those who are interested in seeing more of what this camera will do.

Thanks so much for visiting.

wow, that's a serious piece of kit, and the detail it captures is amazing, I'm looking forward to the more pictures:)

Frances, this photo is intriguing! How thrilling to see the details placed there by our Creator! And how thrilling for you to discover them and showcase them with your lens and your art!
